The Cubs continue to work on a three-way deal to acquire Jake Peavy. The deal is not done, but the scenario being mentioned has the Cubs sending Mark DeRosa to Philadelphia for pitcher J.A. Happ and a second pitcher. Then the Cubs would send Happ, Kevin Hart, Jason Marquis and Josh Vitters to San Diego in exchange for Peavy. The Cubs would eat a good portion of the Marquis contract, probably in the range of $3-4 million. The third base prospect Vitters was drafted third overall ub tge 2007 Major League Draft and played the 2008 season for the Boise Hawks (A).
At the same time, the Cubs are working on a trade to bring an outfielder to the club. I'll check-in when I know more.
