1050 ESPN Radio & Melrose Credit Union want to recognize and reward college-bound student athletes who excel on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community with a $5,000 scholarship to an accredited college!

Do you know a College-Bound Senior athlete that excels on AND off the field?

If so, we want to hear about them! Whether it's donating their time to charitable organizations, maintaining great grades or contributing to the community in a positive way we want to hear all about it!!

Between now and December 31, 1050 ESPN will honor 4 MVP's (one per month) and 16 runner-ups (4 per month). In January the top MVP will be awarded a $5000 college scholarship courtesy of Melrose Credit Union!

Maxx Meyer
Half Hollow Hills High School East
96.6 average
LACROSSE, SOCCER
Maxx is the varsity captain on both the lacrosse and soccer teams, and has held that title since his junior year. He has received all-league honors for soccer, and was an Under Armour All-American in lacrosse. Maxx is a National Hispanic Scholar, and was elected Vice President of his school's chapter of the National Honors Society. He stays very active in high school activities, ushering many events for his own, and neighboring high schools, and he frequents nursing homes to offer any assistance to those who struggle with every day tasks.

Kathie Demonte

Smithtown High School, Smithtown, NY
4.09 GPA
VOLLEYBALL, SOFTBALL
Kathie is the all-league captain for the Smithtown Women's Volleyball team, leading the team in kills. Her tenacity follows her to the classroom, where her outstanding academic work has placed her in the 99th percentile in her school. Kathie is a member of the National Honors Society, Italian Honor Society, and Math Honor Society, and is about to complete the final of her six AP classes. In the community, she has participated in blood drives, the school beautification program, and numerous fundraisers for breast cancer research.



Lindsay Bloom

Pascack Valley High School
4.0 GPA
GYMNASTICS
Lindsay was a member of the USA Gymnastics team in the 2009 Maccabi games, and led Pascack Valley to a state championship. After receiving perfect scores in the gym, Lindsay sports a perfect grade point average and is a member of Pascack Valley's chapter of the National Honors Society. Lindsay also improves the spirits of the local community, visiting nursing homes and provides beauty services to the female residents as a part of the Glamour Girls program.

Megan Massa
High Technology High School
98.06 average
TENNIS, SWIMMING
Megan is an outstanding student at High Tech, with three gold medals for the National Latin Exams. She is a leader in the classroom with her remarkable GPA, and as a co-captain on both the tennis and swim teams. Megan received MVP honors her sophomore year, and medaled in the 100m breaststroke in the Monmouth County Championships. Megan swims in the American Cancer Society Swim-A-Thon, participates in a bike ride for MS, and volunteers as a swim coach at the local YMCA.
